The cooperation of the AKF in Kraków with the Doctoral Students' Self-Government is based on the provisions contained in the internal normative acts of the university, such as the University Statute and the Doctoral School Regulations. The fundamental issues related to cooperation include the representation of the Doctoral Students' Self-Government in the collegial bodies of the university (the Scientific Council and the Doctoral School College), consultative and advisory functions in the field of doctoral education, issues concerning the organization of doctoral students' life, internal regulations or those related to teaching and research activities, and the right to give opinions on draft resolutions, orders and decisions of the University bodies in matters concerning doctoral students (curricula, changes in regulations, organization of recruitment processes, principles of assessing doctoral students' progress, changes in research programs, as well as changes in the structure and functioning of the Doctoral School itself and other administrative matters).

The cooperation of the SD College with the Doctoral Students' Government, in a way that enables active participation of doctoral students in shaping the educational process based on the principles of partnership and openness to dialogue, is an important element of joint responsibility, it helps build an academic community and relations based on mutual trust and respect and improve the quality of education. Both formal issues and practical aspects of their implementation are discussed with representatives of the Self-Government, as well as proposals for improvements that take into account the needs of doctoral students and the dynamically changing scientific environment. The Doctoral Students' Representative takes an active part in the meetings of the SD College and may participate, without the right to vote, in the work of the Recruitment Committee.

Consultations with PhD students take place before changes are introduced in documents concerning the functioning of the SD and the course of the education process. The task of the URSD is also to represent the PhD community in matters concerning science, culture and social and living conditions, which is confirmed by numerous meetings and trainings for PhD students of the SD AKF. An example of cooperation is also the cyclical June consultation meetings with the participation of representatives of the Self-Government, Lecturers, Supervisors and the management of the SD and the University, which allow for solving problems reported by PhD students and constitute an environment for the exchange of experiences and observations, creating space for the development of interdisciplinary scientific discussions.

On the day of the Inauguration of the Academic Year, during the organizational meeting, the rights and obligations of the PhD student are presented, who is encouraged to represent SD in URSD and self-government. URSD AKF in Krakow annually delegates members to local and national bodies, i.e. the Agreement of PhD Students of Krakow Universities, the National Agreement of PhD Students of AWF or the National Representation of PhD Students (which since January 2023 has been represented in the board by the Chairwoman of URSD AKF in Krakow).
