Frączek Barbara
prof. dr hab. Barbara Frączek
A graduate of the Jagiellonian University, she holds a PhD in Biological Sciences and the title of Professor in Physical Culture Sciences. She is a specialist in sports nutrition and works as a research and teaching staff member at the Department of Sports Medicine and Human Nutrition, Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of Physical Education (Akademia Kultury Fizycznej) in Kraków. Since 2020, she has served as the Director of the Doctoral School of Physical Culture Sciences (NoKF) at the same university.
Her scientific and educational work focuses on human nutrition and sports dietetics, particularly the impact of alternative nutritional strategies and dietary supplements on health, physical performance, and gut microbiota. She is the co-editor of the textbook Sports Nutrition (Dietetyka sportowa) and the author and co-author of numerous scientific articles published in national and international journals in the fields of dietetics, nutrition, and sports medicine.
She co-created the study program Sports and Recreation Dietetics at the University of Physical Education and Sport in Gdańsk (AWFiS), contributing to its concept, launch, and teaching. From 2004 to 2020, she served as a nutrition consultant for elite Polish athletes, including members of the Polish Ski Association.
She lectures in training programs for instructors and coaches as well as postgraduate studies. She is also the co-founder of the company Trix – Sports Nutrition. As a promoter of modern standards in sports dietetics, she supports its development and dissemination through her scientific, educational, and practical work, contributing to the improvement of educational quality and nutritional awareness within the sports community.
